Hearty and Healthy Fall Breakfast

My dad used to like oatmeal now and then for a simple meal. He added milk, brown sugar, and butter to a heaping bowl of hot oats. I learned to love oatmeal from his routine and happily I've learned that oatmeal is not just for childhood memories. A hearty breakfast of rolled oats cooked up is a great way to start the day!

Oatmeal was a rediscovery for me during a journey with stage four colon cancer. I chose to do juicing and 80% raw foods + 20% cooked healthy foods for many months after/around medical treatment. Oatmeal was the perfect breakfast for my day and was a part of the healing cancer eating plan. My dad would be disappointed to know that the milk and butter were off the list but I think he'd understand.

Here is what I do love to add to my morning oatmeal:

1/2 cup rolled oats (preferably an organic brand like Bob's Red Mill Organic Regular Rolled Oats) prepared according to the instructions on the package. Simple!
